History and culture meet in Salou’s Torre Vella

Torre Vella in Salou, also known as Torre de Barenys or Torre de Carles V in the past, is one of the most important architectural constructions in capital of Costa Daurada. Do you know it?

This spectacular building ─constructed in the Renaissance─ has a squared 10-metre floor. Torre Vella was built in the 16th century in the Barenys area, under the rule of the Archbishop of Tarragona, Pere de Cardona, who wanted a protected space away from the attack of pirates.

In the 18th century, the annexed typical Catalan country house was built and attached to the main tower through a bridge. Today, Torre Vella in Salou ─which went through a number of restorations─ has three floors accessible by a spiral staircase made of stone.

Nowadays, the Torre Vella’s first floor hosts ─permanently─ the Museum of Enamel. Both central and bottom floor are used as the venue for various temporary exhibitions.

Also, the property ─where you’ll find some beautiful gardens, as well as a statue built after “sardanes”─ can be hired for weddings.
